FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about visiting and contacting Caraga Region XIII.
How do I get to Caraga Region XIII?
Caraga is accessible by air through Bancasi Airport in Butuan City and Surigao Airport — both with regular flights from Manila and Cebu. By sea, ferries from Cebu, Manila, and Davao connect to Surigao City and Butuan ports regularly.
What is the best time to visit Caraga?
The dry season from March to June is the best time for beach and outdoor activities. September is ideal for Siargao's international surfing competition at Cloud 9. The Balanghai Festival in Butuan takes place in August and is a must-see cultural event.
Is Siargao easy to visit from Butuan?
Yes. You can fly directly to Siargao (Sayak Airport) from Manila or Cebu. From Surigao City, there are daily fast craft rides taking around 1–2 hours to reach Dapa port on Siargao. The island has plenty of accommodation for all budgets.
Are there entrance fees for the Enchanted River?
Yes, there is a small entrance fee to visit the Enchanted River in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. Fees help fund conservation. Visitors must follow rules such as no swimming outside designated hours and no feeding of fish outside the noon ritual.
Who do I contact for tourism permits or events?
For tourism-related permits, event coordination, or press inquiries, email tourism@caraga.gov.ph or call (085) 342-5547. The Department of Tourism Caraga office handles official permits and accreditation for events and tour operators.
How long does it take to explore all five provinces?
To do all five provinces justice, we recommend at least 10–14 days. Siargao alone easily fills 4–5 days. The Enchanted River, Tinuy-an Falls, and Britania Islands spread across Surigao del Sur deserve 3 days, and Agusan Marsh at least 2 days.
